It’s a special thing to watch a practitioner receive their black belt. Garrick (our morning instructor) has been training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for 12-plus years.

His promotion was stuck in limbo for a few years as our gym saw a turnover in coaching and, COVID hit in 2020.

Five years at brown belt is a little unheard of, specifically with someone as talented as Garrick. Prof. Joshua is proud to have promoted his first black belt in Garrick and is excited to watch him grow into it.

Our new group of blue belts is tough, kind, technical and strong. And our kids’ team is growing fast – some of them competed at Grappling Industries and did really well.
